For this month’s Meet the Team article, we chatted with our Sales Manager, Rob Booth, who is a fantastic example of the people who drive our success. Rob’s story is not just about sales but a genuine passion for making a difference!

I actually began my career in print at 19, where I joined the graduate scheme at Xerox – after gaining some great experience, I made the move to the recruitment industry in the city – a highly pressured environment with long hours and strong competition, but working in this industry definitely shapes your work ethic and approach to business.

When the COVID pandemic hit, I decided it was time to reassess, and with two young daughters, it was time to focus on what really matters – spending time with my family and figuring out a better work-life balance.

I’ve known Parallel’s Managing Director, Gavin Auckland, for many years, and I knew we had shared values for business so when Gavin asked me if I’d be interesting in joining to help with his new business it made total sense – when I started, there was just three of us in an office without any windows, which shows just how far we have come in the last three years!

Since joining, I’ve seen the team grow rapidly – to one that now employs around 20 people – whilst my role focuses on sales, we often talk through new ideas and initiatives which help shape where we are today.

It’s been an amazing journey to be part of Parallel’s growth – what’s unique about Parallel is how much each team member’s voice is valued. Gavin is an incredible leader – he leads by example, empowers the team, and creates an environment where everyone feels heard and appreciated.

My philosophy has always been that people are a company’s greatest asset. At Parallel, this couldn’t be more true.

Like any company, we’ve had our growing pains, but we’ve learned from our mistakes, and we are stronger because of them. The camaraderie and teamwork here are really something special. I recently volunteered to organise a social committee and have got some fun team activities planned to further strengthen our bond.

Outside of work I’m football mad and coach my daughters U-13’s football team, this brings its own set of challengers but watching the kids develop their skills and confidence both on and off the pitch is so rewarding. Parallel actually sponsor the team which is another way that we are giving back to the community.

I’m excited about what’s ahead for Parallel and proud to be part of a company that genuinely cares for its people and its customers – it’s great to work for a business where you feel like you make an impact every day.

It’s not just a job – it’s a place where you feel you can grow, make a difference, and ultimately feel valued – that is rare, and I’m grateful to be part of it.

"Rob’s journey shows the very ethos of Parallel - a commitment to people, a focus on growth, and a drive for excellence. His enthusiasm, transparency, and passion for both his work and his team make him an integral part of what makes Parallel so special."
