Over the coming months, we’d like to introduce you to some of our incredible Parallel team as they share their stories and learn more about what they love about working for Parallel. This month, we asked Tina Dent, one of our newest team members to tell us about her role, journey and plans for the future.
“I’m Tina Dent, and I joined Parallel in August 2024 as a Customer Service Executive. Alongside my role at Parallel, I also work as a higher-level teaching assistant at a school where I’ve worked for the past 10 years. Before that, I spent years working in a nursery – so my whole career has centred around working with young children. The opportunity to work at Parallel was exciting because it allowed me to learn new skills in an office environment, something I’d never done before.
I split my time between both roles, working at Parallel on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. So far, it’s been an incredible learning experience, and I’ve been able to get involved in supporting the launch of our new Parallel Logistics venture. No two days are ever the same – I help customers with queries, respond to automatic notifications when machines need attention (like errors or toner), and make sure our system is up-to-date. I am really enjoying working with different types of businesses and the variety that this brings/
One of the things I appreciate most is how supportive the team has been. I work closely with three other team members, and they’ve been amazing at helping me get up to speed. Moving from a background in childcare to an office environment was a big change, but it’s been a rewarding challenge, and I love the new skills I’m learning. I’ve particularly enjoyed the problem-solving side of things, and figuring out what’s causing an issue and putting a solution in place to solve it is a great feeling.
When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my family. I have three young children aged 3, 8 and 14, so there’s never a dull moment. I’m also looking forward to getting more involved in the fantastic community work that Parallel supports, like the Muscle Help Foundation, sponsoring local sports teams and our new partnership with Watford FC.
Working for Gavin has been a pleasure. He’s flexible, kind and welcoming, and that makes a big difference. He’s created a work environment where everyone feels supported and valued. I’m excited to continue growing in this role and to see where this journey with Parallel takes me. It’s been a wonderful start, and I’m grateful to be part of such a supportive and dynamic team.”
Thank you to Tina for sharing her story and journey with Parallel so far! It’s great to have her on board, and it’s been wonderful to see her adapt and grow in her role. Welcome to the team Tina.
